A rare 18th century townplan of Worcester
Plan of the CIty and Suburbs of Worcester, from Actual Survey by George Young 1779.
London, 1780. Coloured. 645 x 860.
£2,400.00
Description
A scarce town plan of Worcester, engraved by Patrick Begbie, and orientated with north to the right. Extensive keys list the public building and places of worship, and an engraved text gives the history of the city since its 'foundation' by Constantius Chlorus (here described a Briton, but actually a Roman soldier who was emperor for a year before dying at York, succeeded by his son, Constantine the Great).
