Description

An uncommon view of Brighton drawn and lithographed by Jules Arnout for his 'Aerial Excursions'. Taken from above the sea, it shows the seafront from Brunswick Town to Sussex Square. Features include the Royal Pavilion, St Peter's Church and, in fields to the north, the London Road Viaduct, built for the new railway and opened only five years before.. In the sky is a hot-air balloon.
