Description

Thi si the third plate that Ortelius used for Denmark, introduced into the 'Theatrrum Orbis Terrarum' in 1595. The plate is divided into two: on the left is a map of Denmark and Danish possessions in what is now Schleswig, Holstein and Sweden; on the right is a more detailed map of Jutland and Funen, based on Mark Jordan's map (also the basis of the Braun & Hogenberg map). The first plate (1570-81) had a single map of Denmark; the second plate (1584-98) was divided between Denmark and Oldenburg.
