Description

A woodcut prospect of Genoa with a 24-point key of important buildings, including the lighthouse on the left. On the reverse is a French letterpress description of the city. From Belleforest's 'La Cosmographie universelle de tout le monde', which was a French translation of Sebastian Munster's 'Cosmography', although taking the maps and prospects from other sources, including Ortelius and Braun & Hogenberg. As there was only one edition, Belleforest's maps are considerably rarer than Munster's.
